Each BOLSITA yoga mat bag is thoughtfully designed, ethically-made, and creates jobs and economic opportunity for multiple Latina entrepreneurs involved in the bag creation process.

MEET THE WEAVERS
BOLSITA proudly partners with female weavers across Guatemala, including Romelia and Lidia (above, red shirt) who run their business from their shared home in Comalapa within Guatemala's Chimaltenango department. Our first collection features textiles custom-woven on a backyard footloom by Lidia (seen here adjusting her loom), as well as fabrics hand-selected from the store she runs from the courtyard area of her home.

Additional textiles from BOLSITA's first collection were made by the Pixan co-operative of indigenous, Guatemalan female weavers who have established small businesses that allow them to set their own wages and work from the safety and comfort of their own homes.

FROM LOOM TO BAG
Once the textile design and weaving process is complete, the finished fabrics are transported to Antigua, Guatemala, home of BOLSITA's incredibly talented seamstress, Silvia (in the pink polo).
​
Like many female artisans in Guatemala, Silvia works from a studio within the home she shares with her children and extended family. Silvia's impeccable sewing skills bring each BOLSITA to life as she carefully constructs every bag to highlight the unique details of each lovingly-woven textile.
Our hope is that, as BOLSITA continues to grow, we will be able to provide employment and economic opportunity to even more female artisans like Lidia and Silvia and, as a result, expand our designs and product offerings.
